[hometext] => On my failure as a father
[bodytext] =>
Why is my head so heavy,
Oh, how life has bowed it down,
if my body weren’t in the way
my head would lay upon the ground.
Oh, the memories of what I’ve done
have robbed my life of any fun,
and they push my neck, it’s weak,
they weigh so heavy I hardly speak.
My lips, my tongue my voice,
don’t work for me anymore,
they’re in service to my sorrow,
my every move now so unsure.
My eyes, they used to sing,
but my sorrow veils any light,
now all they see is memory’s pain,
in concert filter all but my stains.
My arms, my legs are deaf to me,
they ignore commands to follow dreams,
they are slack in sorrow’s way,
move just enough to give pain another day.

Great work indeed. Although a painful read.
We all learn on the job and hone our skills later in life. Just living life ruins most of the fun of it.
Look to the future- what you do today matters most.
Funny I watched a 2018 movie last night. "Forever My Girl" It syncs with what you wrote here.
I often look at people as "scavengers". The whole concept of life is a complete struggle. It ain`t fun and games and if we all lived in a society where we didn/'/t have to be scavengers then we could work on being perfect people in a stress free world. |

The pain never goes away
just fades...and gets ignited by lifes triggers
we do what we can and hopefully learn from mistakes
leave them demons behind
continue to grow.... |

My heavy heart after reading this ... You gave pain breath and a pulse.
It almost physically hurts to read as each line sinks to a new low of self imposed misery.
All we have is today.
Yesterday is forever gone and tomorrow is never guaranteed.
Be kind to yourself today and grateful for gaining new insight.
Little change creates big change in due course. Stay afloat.

Speaking as a daughter. . .
Dad is always the first man in one/'/s life, and no dad is perfect. I have a medical condition and my dad/'/s way of coping was to show favoritism to my sister; that didn/'/t keep me from caring about him.
We children love our dads no matter their faults - they make mistakes too. This was a great write.
