Why is my head so heavy,
Oh, how life has bowed it down,
if my body weren’t in the way
my head would lay upon the ground.

Oh, the memories of what I’ve done
have robbed my life of any fun,
and they push my neck, it’s weak,
they weigh so heavy I hardly speak.

My lips, my tongue my voice,
don’t work for me anymore,
they’re in service to my sorrow,
my every move now so unsure.

My eyes, they used to sing,
but my sorrow veils any light,
now all they see is memory’s pain,
in concert filter all but my stains.

My arms, my legs are deaf to me,
they ignore commands to follow dreams,
they are slack in sorrow’s way,
move just enough to give pain another day.
