My mind is always racing
I just can’t make it all go away
Maybe I am not supposed to
maybe God has things he wants me to say
*
I have been around for many years
not knowing who I am supposed to be
I have known the truth of God
but didn’t let it exist within me
*
I know the truth
I know the way
I know I will go to heaven
because I gave my life to God one day
*
I am not always an honorable Christian
I don’t live exactly by Gods word
I do acknowledge his love
it is assured
*
Every day so many thoughts
I just don’t know how I manage it all
This world in which I live is evil
eventually, we will hear Gods call
*
Sometimes I tremble
and tears build up around my eyes
I have all I can do to hold them back
remaining behind this disguise
*
Often my heart is heavy
as I don’t know which way to turn
It’s hard to leave behind my old ways
realizing there is a better life to learn
*

I think this is a wonderful poem.
I read it through a couple of times,
the path in life is uncertain, we
can change, even at an older
age, we can change, because
the measurement of who we are,
what we were, what we might someday
be, could change in a split second.
The whole identity thing, it is misplaced,
It is not outward, it resides within,
and then it shall travel outward,
once, twice, or perhaps always.
or possibly never.
One could think such a thought,
that they keep to themselves.
But shared thoughts, the opposite
thoughts of those you love unconditionally
must be the ones from which we
learn from, and then, we must exhale
and even go further, we must,
we simply must, in order to see
the light that exist within ourselves.
I think that is what T.S. Elliot meant.
And your poem made me think of him.
Peace!

Very good write indeed.
My entire immediate family died and I/'/ve often wondered why I/'/m the only one left.
Thanks,

Me and Timmy share the same story but no glory.
When I was green and wet behind the ears on here in 2015 my poems were the first I ever wrote at age 52.
Wayne always supplied some kind comments.
Great writing Wayne....
God Bless
