Invisible most of the time,
when earth is truly our only border
undefined by ink.
On those arrived upon lines,
popping up like petulant pustules,
oozing stern guns in the hands of stern men,
with dogs trained to ruin lives;
stains,
the only evidence they exist.

Men die to defend them,
and err their grave is grown over,
their death is mocked as banks and corporations,
the face behind a government’s mask,
pushes that country line this way or that,
and the flag they are buried with, they died for,
is no more.

I have no country but my wife;
only in her rests conviction so strong
would I take or give my life.

We fight for lines on a paper. But if you can read this, thank a teacher, and if its in English, thank a soldier.
I sure no one embraces war as a road to peace.
However, I wonder where we would be now if not for the wars our soldiers have fought, and are prepared to fight again.
I regret that they are necessary, but I am grateful that they are there despite whatever political agenda becomes a rider to the gatekeepers of our freedom.

Very expressive piece here.
To each his own.
The survivors of war seem to make a huge sacrifice as well. I honor them all. We can never forget how we got where we are now. Never!

I can fully understand why many distrust the government and to me that even says more about those who serve.
I like what software noted in her comments.
Much to think about here.

Truly exquisite writing my friend and I mean it. Wars are fought now, for the most part, not for right or wrong but for political or financial gain. That of course is only my humble opinion. There is no doubt, however, about your writing ability. It/'/s excellent!!

VERY well done
Barkeep!

I agree whole heartedly with what youve said here.
Wars are no longer fought over freedoms or rights
but for politics and greed.
Im proud to be an American but my wife and kids
are the only ones that I would die for now.
Brilliant piece full of truth.

I tend to stay away from political anything but had to come back to this one. Earth really is our only border but the majority of its inhabitants haven/'/t a clue.

This poem rocks!

Thank you!
