the animals below the human
do they earn a place in heaven
even when they do not pray to god.
And what is heaven to a spider
or to an octopus, or to jellyfish
What is heaven to a virus,
a microbe, what is heaven
to a neuron in ones frontal
cortex, is it caffeine,
is it dopamine, serotonin,
is love a molecule such
as oxytocin, and if so
how much is enough.

the natural world
and all the natural
entities within it

can be and are often
disguised
The bull Moose
is saturated by mosquito
in springtime
yes, even in Boise
Idaho, in Maine,
in Northern MI,
where I met a sire
named Jebediah,
on Isle Royal

He shook his and
said his hello/'/s
before asking me
to leave.

I slowly backed off
one step at a time
before one foot fell
through the ice
in that cold cold
river

while the Royal red
squirrel laughed
and the wolf
tried as only it
must, to eat
me whole.

but I carried on,
my left arm and
left foot, and
some semblance
of a body,
it/'/s okay the
explorer in me
noted. The plane
would come and
they would take
me to the hospital
where they could stitch
on a new right leg and
right arm and part of
a lung, and face.

Soon I would be
shopping again at
REI, I mean
the trip was
paid for, and
I was after all
was said and done

A truly very wonderful
gent.

Peace!

Everyone wants to believe they HAVE HONESTY AND EMPATHY WITHIN THEIR HEART, which makes your premise seductive and persuasive.
When it comes to morality, I suspect our norms of behavior and feelings result from our judgements about how people ought to act and respond in different circumstances. Perhaps the cornerstone of our humanity is a more a composite of our learned responses than our imaginary self beliefs. You offer an interesting question on the substance of being human, for us to consider!
