Array ( [sid] => 185890 [catid] => 1 [aid] => mick [title] => Maid in a Silver Gown [time] => 2019-02-13 11:26:14 [hometext] => One of the first poems I ever wrote. Beginning of my senior yr of high school, 1995 [bodytext] => I went to sleep and started to dream
Waking to find myself in the early morning
Looking out my bedroom window at the beach
Enjoying the morning light I saw the most beautiful woman I had ever seen
My maid in a silver gown

I ran outside onto the sand but was the only one there
I walked the beach mile after mile
But still no sign of the one that I seek
Discouragement began to set in but I kept on walking
After a while I stopped and glanced out at the ocean
And dropped my head but when I looked up,
Off in the distance in a little boat I saw her
My maid in a silver gown

I suddenly ran into the surf and started to swim
With every breath looking to still see my fair maid
But when I reached the boat she was gone
As I climbed in and stood up I was blinded by a bright light
And looked down in the water and there she was
My maid in a silver gown

Her hair flowing like the ocean’s waves
And eyes as dark as its unfathomable depths
Then within a second she disappeared yet again
Starting to row, I looked to the shore once more
And as I reached the beach I started my way home
Then once again there she was
My maid in a silver gown

We walked toward each other till we were face to face
When she whispered “I love you.”
Then she kissed me
Waking up soaked in sweat
There was a movement next to me
And in the place that was empty the night before
There she laid sleeping
My maid in a silver gown

1995

Wow, this is awesome, especially for a first poem. It took me in and I couldn/'/t stop reading because I sooooo much anticipated the ending, whatever it may be. As I read, I started thinking, she/'/s a tease and no it/'/s a trap! Be careful!

So enjoyable, gotta go read it again.

Thank you so much for sharing.

Tim

A story of a magical woman who becomes real to her ardent pursuer. Pure romance here and we root for him to capture his elusive dream.
This is a tale for all of us. A challenge to never give up on ourselves; never let go of our visions.
Im so happy he found her at last, and that emotional investment testifies to your ability to reach your readers hearts.
