I lift my hands toward heaven
Basking in your freedom and glory
Grateful for your faithfulness and everlasting love
With a twirl and a leap my soul is ever joyful

Then the click of high heels I hear from behind me
I turn and see that old girl
The strut of her feet and swing of her hips are deplorable in my eyes
That sly smirk is irritating

"Well, well, what are we up to, my dear?" She says in that arrogant and prissy tone
I leap back, walking away to escape her verbal attack
Yet in word and motion she runs after me all the more

"You know it/'/s only a matter of time before I win you over again"
Jab after jab, I block her out
I ask You Jesus to relieve me of her
And then You give me instruction

About face, I/'/m ready with a divine response
"I/'/m no longer a slave to your ways" I say in boldness
She trembles in fear, knowing her end has come

Every sharp edged lie countered by the sword of truth
Every fear-instilling thought cast down by my renewed mind
Your name paralyzes her entire being
I witness my victory as that powerless force falls slain to the ground

Then I turn away and see You standing in front of me
I run into Your arms for a much needed embrace
You tell me I/'/ve stood my ground well and that You/'/re pleased
And I reply that without You none of it would/'/ve been possible

And so again I lift my hands toward heaven
Assured of what is true
That I am eternally free
And that through You I have been given divine authority over my life

What a great write. The beginning took me to different places and at the end it settled in and I fully understood where the poem was going. At the end it turned into an inspirational write.
The last stanza was a powerful ending and did justice to the write. Wonderful!

Warrior indeed! I love the tale. It is so true. Evil is all around us, and the devil IS winning. BUT, he has nothing on you. I envy you your faith and admire your strength. I know , from years ago when we communicated more, roughly your age and upbringing. (Facebook is a tool of destruction), so I applaud you all the more. You are a shining gem in a dim world, and when I think of decent Christians; what it TRULY means to live a life in Christ, I think of you. I have for several years. Keep on keepin/'/ on, Warrior.

there is some consolation they say,
in deep faith of anything, whether it
be right or wrong,
faith, the embedding of pure faith,
less the devil take over thy soul,
root by bit of root, till no more
And yet, in peril one takes
an assortment of accords,
less than a manifest destiny,
and succumb only to
what Aristotle and Plato
called, to live,
to love, to grow,
to imbue, right
from wrong.

Peace!
