Is it of truth that mixed feelings do last?
Perplexity dons the crowning hat until I finally decide,
But, by then would my feelings have passed?
Intermingling and entwining is how my sentiments pass time,
Lay one finger on the chosen, I simply cannot,
E’en though I may discern what I feel to be unfeigned,
‘tis but a moment and I’ve already forgot
The impressions that surround me are of no worth to me,
They rub vinegar and salt in my wound,
For they alone hold the responsibility of all guile,
As they transform my mind into a living tomb
Nay, I withhold and stand fast to my ground,
As they poke and prod at my mind,
I then question myself as to what I sincerely feel,
Yet, a firm directive I cannot find
To be courageous and love or to obey and decline?
‘tis a ruling I cannot pretend and decide,
So, I clasp my hands and try to retain whatever that I feel,
Hoping that by it my indecision it may hide

Crikey! I hope you get out of this position you are in in your life. It doesn't sound good, but hey I've been through the mill myself and can identify with some of what you wrote. Hope it gets better. Good luck

You've got a way of packing every word with heavy meaning. If I'm not imagining things, you've described your situation well. This is something I'll have to read over again a few hundred times to understand it though... reminds me of school ;)

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
