I layed a Sheila, a few Suzy/'/s, and an Amy too,
and my hands at their command, knew just what to do.
I held on tight, but not in fight, just learning a new trick,
yet through all my sowing years, I never layed a brick.

PS. I must add, my dear lass, and I/'/m really sad to say,
my comment shared, though in play, is one devoid of class. |

hard work is a skill.
In order to work hard you have to have
a penchant to work hard, which is in itself
a joy.
I never know what comes from hard work.
But still, it keeps me satisfied.
You know, if you watched a brick layer,
as I did a small boy, you might be amazed
at their skill.
They were to me skillful.
"If you build anything good
that will last a long long time.
There must have been some
joy, even if you were a slave.",
said the Pharaoh...
what a strange dichotomy,
even now...
I did not think this at all,
at least not then, at least
not fully/
but I did partially,
even when I as young.
Peace!

maybe gazing as one
does at hard work at
a tender age,
might be seen as
agreeable, or as
some progress.
Maybe trying, hard
as it seems, was
pushed on someone
and yet they themselves
never felt free.
Maybe, we are all
bound together
as slave, tethered
to one another,
and no matter
how hard we might
try we can never
fully define our own
virtue, or lack
therein of virtue.
And I never thought
it was hard to feel
as though I was
totally lost at times.
I guess one inherits
this feeling of melancholy
of which they know
is easily misinterpreted
somehow.
Peace!

Beautiful. :) Generally, inspirational poems tend to be long but I love how crisp you/'/ve kept it. |
