I want to write you a letter,
But I don/'/t know where to start,
Maybe how when you left me,
You completely crushed my heart.
I want to write you a letter,
But I don/'/t know what to say,
The day you dropped me for good,
Gave meaning to every cliché.
I want to write you a letter,
That I don/'/t think you/'/ll ever read,
I really thought you could be the one,
I thought you were all I/'/d need.
I want to write you a letter,
Pour my brain onto the page,
Tell you about how I feel,
Release myself from this cage.
I want to write you a letter,
But I don/'/t think I/'/m going to,
You/'/re so happy without me around,
And still, all I want is you.

this would be a fine letter
to read. But there is not enough
about you, what you did
today, or last week, where
you went, what you ate,
nothing but the way you feel,
And nothing about the girl or the
boy, what they like, what they
dislike.
But you describe mental illness,
desperado,
And you don/'/t have her or him
but yet it seems genuine.
you are released from the cage,
and you are now on your own.
like a runaway.
Running away
from love

I/'/ve always imagined mental illness to be like being trapped on a train, running from carriage to carriage while it is hurtling along, trying to find the one door that will allow you to get off it.
I/'/m glad you have chosen poetry as a vehicle to give us an insight into what it is like for you.
