Here is to the first;
I wore a red ribbon,
Every time I saw you,
To symbolize my true self,
To symbolize my true love.
You took me down the river,
And to the park,
Took me out,
And fed me well.
From my prison I emerged,
Young and warm was I,
So I gave you my heart,
Gave you what I could.
You said I brought beauty into this world,
Said I was light,
Shining from the darkest night.
I was finding who I was,
As you held my hand.
You took me coffee,
During long days at work.
My love for you grew and grew.
Then one day you called and said it was through.
No words could say,
What I felt that horrible day.
Never, never would I love again,
So firmly I said ,
But than,
I met someone nothing like the one before,
Who took me to the zoo,
And taught me to through a football.
You told me of all your pain,
And showed me all my flaws,
Open my eyes to a bigger world.
You were so strong,
Yet so soft,
Before I could stop,
I loved you.
You held my hand in the hospital,
And never left my side.
You would make me laugh when I wanted to cry,
You said I was good to you,
And that I was special,
You were my very first Valentine.
A side of me I never new begin to live,
All because of you.
You showed me how to play pool,
And to talk softly,
Told me about genetics, and how life is formed.
Then the past I had to relive,
As you walked away, said you had no reason to stay.
So I, like before, cried my tears,
And was lost in my fears,
Bond once again by such hard rejection,
And coldness of night surrounding.
But wait, I am not left here!
To the two that I loved beyond reason,
To the two I gave pieces of myself,
I say this,
Thank you.
If I could I would have done it all over again,
Thank you for all you have shown me,
And all that I have learned,
Thank you for the chance to get to know you,
And for the smiles you brought,
And the tears you caught,
Thank you,
I can now know how to live, love, and forgive better.
I am looking forward to loving anew,
When that day comes,
I will thank you once again,
For even though I was hurt in the end,
You still taught me a better way to live.
I will never forget you my dear ones,
The love I have for both so different,
Yet shall never die.

This is a beautiful write..and says so much. "It is better to have lost and loved then never to have loved at all...."
Nicely done..
