And knows his boys are close at hand
His heart is bursting out with pride
Oh, to have them by his side

They will be weary, battle torn
But no more lonely and forlorn
Hate and bitternes behind
Only love for them to find

Love of country, very strong
Pride and passion, all belong
Waiting there to right a wrong
Sons and father, what a bond

Love of woman waiting here
Calmly waiting, year on year
Waiting with her arms held wide
For her knight to step inside

Love of child so soft and sweet
Chubby fingers, tiny feet
Laughing, gurgling,safe and warm
Father keeps him safe from harm

Not for him a life of hate
Only joy to participate
All because of knights brave deed
He will always be safe and free [comments] => 5 [counter] => 174 [topic] => 40 [informant] => gwenevere [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 10 [ratings] => 2 [editpoem] => 0 [associated] => [topicname] => fantasy )

*The End.. as I gently place the book back upon the shelf..*

This was an immaculate read through and through..
the imagery was fraught..
your timing, in every line of every verse, was
faultless..
my only hope is that one day..
this takes it rightful place alnog side the select few works of the age..

Well done..
*stands and claps..throws roses...and screams ..
"ENCORE!"*

As Always..

B

I love how you went from the fathers and sons comparison to the mother and love to the children and laughing. That made the poem so great. You are an amazing writer. I will always enjoy your work...
