[hometext] => this poem just randomly came to me so i just wrote it down without much thought. i guess i was thinking about how sometimes even though you do something for a perfectly reasonable reason people will still look back and see you as cowardly and unhonorable.
[bodytext] => GOING BACK We All Loved the Sunset That came to us On those nights, At the café with the Potted geraniums and Yellow curtains So happy and foolish Laughing, talking About nothing, at a time When there was everything to Talk about I love you Were words that Meant nothing Or everything Depending on the hour And the quality of the Strong, dark coffee I had long decided To stay forever On that sunny street Far away and smiling But there is always Time, and soon Our careful world Unraveled, just like that The café windows were broken And the flowers faded into the silence We drifted away, discarded Like the dying daffodils we were It’s hard to go back To an abandoned ideal They take one look at you And mourn your wasted life They know you don’t deserve To be remembered, People like you, they say, Are worse than enemies, Enemies fight, you have never fought, And never will, your past is worthless Forget it Forget your summers Forget your soulless love Forget the things you swore You’d remember, it all means nothing Forget your hopes, your sacrifices, All you dreamed about Forget the sunset [comments] => 1 [counter] => 160 [topic] => 21 [informant] => Mara [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 0 [ratings] => 0 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => Lifepoems )
