A toy poodle apricot color
Brown eyes and curly fur
We got him for our son Chuckie

My son goes by Charles, but I have to ryme
Coco became the puppies name
He looked like a little teddy bear
Each afternoon he seemed to know the time

Coco would wait at the front door for Charlies bus
Charlie is adopted by my wife and I
A child of special needs
You see Charlie was abused

This routine went on for eleven years
Each day waiting at the door
Charlie would greet him with the biggest smile
Coco would bark, wag his tail, and jump with floppy ears

Charles has C.P. because of a fractured schull
Drives a power wheelchair and is quite happy and content
Its a shame someone had to be so cruel

What are the possabiltes this child had
He only has use of one arm
His legs too weak to stand
He is happy though mom and dad are sad

When we pass who will care for him
Charlie and Coco visit people in our neighborhood
Charlie always gives Coco a ride
The two were unsepertable and tat is the sin

Charlie and Coco always slept together
Everyone needs a best friend
Charlie went to his job at the A.R.C
Coco seemed under the weather

We took right to the animal doctor
The vet said it just appears to be kennel cough
A few days of sickness Coco just laid around
As sick as he was he knew the time to go to the door

My wife and I took turns during the day holding our Coco
Caring for him like the vet said
Coco took his pills with very little mushy food
Our poor poodle

The third day he wanted down from my lap
Tears weld as I watched him weakly go to the door
Charlie's home an everyday cry
Coco gave his usual, but unsual yap

I opened the door and Charlie entered
Hi Coco boy
I put Coco upon Charlie's lap
Charlie talked and stroked with his uncurled hand

Within ten mineutes Charlie cried Daddy daddy
Coco's not moving
I jumped and checked; Damn right on Charlies lap he died

Tears running down Charlies cheeks
Running down mine
My wife also crying
God love the weak

This dog our dog Charlies best friend
He waited all day for Charlie to come home
The love of a dog Charlies buddy
Charlies pal
We know Coco waited for Charlie until his very end

Sinned

Beautiful story of a little boy and his dog. Sorry about charlie but then I am happy that he has both of you to love him and to share love with him. Hard I bet not having the dog around. there is a poem that I came across one time. I hope I tell you right how to get to it. it's title is THE RAINBOW BRIDGE. try to find it in www.askjeeves.com. type in the question. rainbow bridge it is a poem about our pets go to heaven but yet wait at the rainbow bridge till we die and go to heaven and when they see us they will run and be happy and then we can all cross the bridge together...... maybe the poem will help. loved your story but then it is very sad. sandy.

OMG this is absolutely beautiful, and it brought tears to my eyes...What a loving bond those two must have shared...I'm so sorry for your loss (& Charles especially...) This is a wonderful tribute, and I hope in time you'll have a new furry best friend....Google a poem called "Rainbow Bridge" if you're not familiar with it already...It is an excellent poem about where our pets go after death, and I'm sure it would help your son as well...Take Care.
Scorp.

Oh for the love of little dog, this was so sad, but I just simply can't imagine what it did to that sweet little boy of yours. We love them for years, and never think they will leave us, and when they do, it rips our hearts from our chests. The same thing happened to our little Picy dog, and she too waited each night for Montie her special love to return. The night she died we didn't even know she was sick, for she had played ball with her Montie just that morning. She waited until he could hold her before she went to sleep. Oh for the love of a tiny little ball of fur called a dog. What a blessing for our Loving Creator, but you must get another.......even though you don't want too. Another will never be the same, but will help to fill the hole. It really works try it!
Warm love and hugs and kisses to your little boy and to you.........I know how very much it hurts.
God bless with another one soon!
consue
