ON THE EDGE OF THE WORLD

Blackfoot Indians long ago patrolled this area,
Bitterroot Mountains in Montana mesa.
This famous painting was inspired
By the famous Howard Terpning Indian
Painter retired.

Terpning traveled to this place purposely,
First hand view of the Canyon and it's beauty.
Where Blackfoot could look for unknown miles....
Endless sighting, all theirs freedom lifestyles.

As he painted, he wanted to feel what they felt,
Broad horizon's empty canyon where they dwelt.
He called this painting "On the Edge of the World"
Trying to capture the heart of Blackfoot scouts
or hunters of their "dream-world."

Their 'dream-world" being turned upside down,
Paleface invaded, murdering and toppling their
"Freedom Crown!"
Indians could still sit here today,
and get a sense of seeing forever.....
But for the selfish, biased, prejudiced
white man's butcher!!!

"When we walk upon Mother Earth, we always plant our feet carefully
because we know the faces of our future generations
are looking up at us from beneath the ground.
We never forget them."
-Oren Lyons, Onondaga Nation"

"Neither will Our Loving Creator
in the Heavens forget them, He
will remember and repay many
times over for all of their
sufferings, & give them
everlasting life
forever &
ever"

Magnificent Connie, absolutely magnificent. The Indian nations will ride their lands again one day. We will have our freedom back and our families will not suffer ever again. The creator will free us.

Marvellous Tribute.
Poem and piecture.
Hail, hail! I echo the foregoing commenters.
Know nothing of Howard Terpnig but he sure is a great artist and gets deserved tribute from another great artist.
We learned about the Cherokee overseas at the nuns boarding school, secretely reading under the eiderdown until mother Superior came - and then wow,- porca miseria.
Hail to the Cherokee!
Hail to those that sing for them!
Hail and blessings.
Elizabeth
