Array ( [sid] => 975 [catid] => 1 [aid] => mick [title] => Bess [time] => 2002-07-23 06:10:06 [hometext] => Bess was the best spinger spaniel you could ever wish to meet.
She was nine when they found a massive tumor in her chest cavity.
I lost her on the operating table.
A day I will never foget. [bodytext] => Bess was the best friend I ever had
She was my baby, and I was her dad
When walking she’d fill me with giggles and cheer
And waggle beside me as I ruffled her ear
There was joy in her heart
You could see it pour out
By the wag of her tail
As she bounded about
She was kind and considerate friendly and true
And would stare in your eyes with her head all askew
Time goes by and friends depart
Now she’s gone; with a piece of my heart

Ohh I feel for you :( Mine was called Bess too...a border collie who died suddenly aged 12. She truly was my best friend. A lovely but poignant poem Dave. She sounds gorgeous..I love springers.

Awww Dave, I'm sorry ...I am not an animal lover, (Too many dog bites as a kid) but I was moved to tears. Lovely poem...
