Please excuse me while I collapse.
The armor of denial has begun to act to my detriment.
No longer able to support the columns
of sorrow and illusion, I slump to the ground.

Regret would only clutter the beautiful pile of rubble
Discovering your disillusion is like getting
cut by both the bottle and the message inside.

That innermost thought, that solitary
feeling nearly bleeds out as you cover
your wound to shield it from other eyes.
My damage is superficial.

My soul, caught and torn on the rocks
continually pounded by the waves
dragging me away, the undertow is drowning
slammed again into the kelp,

The ocean froths and boils
regardless of the contents
and I am beaten down
without a thought

A glance through ancient eyes
many years dead
Reveals the new wisdom
however temporary

Against the push, the rebellious
stumble towards the future
And find that creation is
all their fault

A wound, however fresh
still bleeds and the pain
is forever a memory

A scar is not
demanding of attention
but a broken heart
is long in healing without it.

however temporary"
