Looking toward the sky, longingly
But not spreading her wings to fly through the air
Where she could be alive and free
Maybe its fear, holding her back
No one will ever know
Because no one understands her
She sees a human at the edge of the water
And cries out to it, hoping, wishing for help
But it just smiles and turns to walk away
She screeches out again in agony
But it keeps walking, further and further away
And yet again she is all alone
Then a flock of swans appear above her
She calls out to them in desperation
They reply, telling her to come along
But fear takes over and she stops
Before she has started
And she gazes up as they fly on past her
Alone again...

A single swan in the middle of the pond
Looking toward the sky, longingly
But not spreading her wings to fly through the air
Where she could be alive and free
Maybe its fear, holding her back
No one will ever know
Because no one understands her
She sees a human at the edge of the water
And cries out to it, hoping, wishing for help
But it just smiles and turns to walk away
She screeches out again in agony
But it keeps walking, further and further away
And yet again she is all alone
Then a flock of swans appear above her
She calls out to them in desperation
They reply, telling her to come along
But fear takes over and she stops
Before she has started
And she gazes up as they fly on past her
Alone again...

A wonderfully conveyed piece of poetry. Story behind the lines. Fear holds us back sometimes very true indeed. A poem very well written. Keep up the good work.
Hugs,
~sue~

That's a great poem! I too love it. You shouldn't let fear hold you back. You should do what you are afraid to do. You shouldn't be afraid to try something new :) If you don't succeed the first time, try again. Jenny
