there's a painting
above the china cabinet
a ship, in gold lining
rocking on the chopy waters
the memories all swirl around me
until i can't see again

i feel the warmth of the sun on my skin
hear the waves
all of a sudden i am flying
and i stand at the water's edge

cool water washes over my toes
the sun is setting, and the waves are lined with gold again
like the painting, i am mesmerized by my dream to die
in waters so beautiful and colors so enchanting
i stand there in a trance
and start to walk out into the depths of the lake

my dark blue shorts are soaked
my bathing suit is underneath
i am in a dream again
i see the ship coming to take me away
my blonde hair whips around my face
curly and wild and weathered

i open my arms to welcome my destiny
in the waist deep waters
i smile, and without a word
fall backward into the cold choppy waves

adrenaline screams and races through me
breath is stinging in my lungs
heart cannot stop beating
and i come up and laugh again

i shiver in the wind
the color is dying from the world
i walk back to the sand in my dripping shorts
sand gathers inbetween my toes
and as i walk back up the concrete staircase
i turn

and the sun winks to me
the world kisses me goodnight [comments] => 2 [counter] => 196 [topic] => 2 [informant] => dantoad [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 5 [ratings] => 1 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => LovePoetry )
