But in my mind, they are gone
I was digging deeper and deeper
Until you came to pull me out
You showed me that I didn’t need it.
It used to be the only thing that was real
But you opened my eyes.
I’ll never forget what I’ve done
To myself, for so long.
When others see the scars, they are scared
But you washed them away with your touch.
In the mirror they are there
But in my mind they are not.
The only thing that could get me through
Until I loved you,
Was my knife.
It helped me escape my pain.
It would not ignore my problems
But neither would you.
I used to watch myself bleed,
It eased the torture.
But now I know that you are there
And will never let me down.
On my knife
And on my life
You will be the only one
To touch my skin.
To heal the scars
And stitch the cuts,
To cover up what I have done.
You and I both know
They were once there,
As signs to one I once loved.
But I couldn’t love myself also,
Until you showed me the way.
The lie that I was living in,
Was not easing my pain,
But only making it worse.
You saw through the bleeding me,
And I still don’t know what you see.
But I thank you for being there
And healing my pains
I have put down the knife,
And know I know
You help more then a blade could ever do
And the only thing I love more than the blade
Is you.
