Light hesitates to show
For fear of rejection from itself
It hides in intimidation
While whispering for help

Feeling along the sides of darkness
Shadows chase it away
Reaching inside for stength
Only to discover courage went stray

I am the light
In the path of life
Darkness swallows me
Whenever I am in it’s sight

To follow the rules is impossible
And painful for me
How can I be free for you
Whenever there is nothing to be ?

Why aren’t I closer to you ?
Why do I have to stand pinned down ?
The flames of Hell licking my soul
As my emotions are thrown around

All candles of hope are smothered
As I am hiding from the other side
I close my eyes and take a breath
Light needs to be seen , because there is nowhere we can hide.

Very complex. People relate to other people's poetry by their own experiences, so people might not catch on exactly to what your hidden meaning is. From my take of it, someone (probably parents or friends) don't approve of the realationship you're in. I pieced this together from the lines 'Why do I have to stand pinned down?' and 'Light needs to be seen, because tehre is nowhere WE can hide.' WE being the key word. I'm sorry if I'm wrong. If I'm way off, you need to leave more clues to what you're hidden meaning is or make the existing ones a little more obvious. But in all, a great poem.

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
