Tell me a story clever
about a love so rare
Talk of the times they gathered
strong man and damsel fair

Tell me how all the world
tried to keep them, at bay
But the love that they felt
Filled their heart, and does so still today

Tell me of days gone by
when clandestined so, they touched
How with a wink of his eye
She knew he loved her so much

Don't tell me how love died
how the two grew to hate as well
Don't tell me of bitter goodbyes
of hearts sunk deep into hell

Don't tell me how the world
closed tightly around like a noose
How things ripped the two apart
and now, they both must lose

I want a clever story
of a love that beats in eternity
I want to hear that story
and I want that love for me.

A very clever poem...and I agree with it completely....I want to hear about the real loves, that go on forever. Wonderful expression. Best of luck on the search.

This is cute. I love the idea of a 'love story' such as this.

I think this was really good.. the second stanza was a little difficult but still worked well.

Fantastic write, Carol.
Phil

This is a really inspiring poem. I often feel like this. I think this is a poem many can relate to.

Ah, well spoken! Those stories don't happen in actuality often enough to suit any of us, I think. But they do happen. Thank God for that.
