Dare I breathe even?
Would you hear, perhaps
Even the quietest of inhales
And exhales, were I to do so?
Might I be tempted to utter
Something perhaps not quite
Appropriate, were I to break
The seal that binds my lips
Under the guise of taking
A deep breath?

Had I and did you, could it
Somehow still be alright?
Or would moonbeams fade
And drift away on the memory
Of a shooting star? Would
Regret slip in and steal the air
And would the melody still
Live there? Or would the sound
Of my hushed and lonely voice
Tear it away?

Breathless, I am, and silent
At least for now as I consider the
Possibility that my eyes may
Give me away. Would you tell me
If they did? Should I close my eyes
And fall away to dream of moonbeams
Shining bright? And if I clasp
The air and beg the song and listen,
Quietly, as the night moves on…
Would that be alright?

- Or -

would you have me

breathe

I can't remember a time that I didn't appreciate quality poetry that could unravel the ribbons of my heart so to speak.

This poem I think will touch everyone on some level--maybe different levels and maybe it will be read and felt-- from the viewer's emotional eye. It just moves you and you comply due to the elegant way you pen your words.

From wishes to why's you weave the magic that makes me hold my breath.

Then of course I sigh and think "I wish I had written that".

Very well done again SNM.

Kie

Hun..welcome back...
This is fabulous. It kept me reading all the way through. It even made me breathless. Lol.

I can't really tell you how much I love this poem, hun. My words would not do it justice.

I can't wait to read more.

Were it up to me ... I would have you breathe ... here, now, and forever ... that I may rest my eyes upon many more such creations of words and beauty. And furthermore, I would have you with your eyes open, that you may point out all of the things that I fail to see.

Gosh.......sigh
This....this is sooo romantic.
I can almost hear your voice in this one. If the one I loved said this to me....I know what my answer would be...
Very stirring.

Oh Snemmy, you have been writing masterpieces....what wonderful reads...they remind me of the classics that I loved to read and re-read as a young woman. Great job with this write and I will be looking for more...

Carol (Who is of late reminded of an old comic strip where the guy has writer's block and what he has written so far is...The....) That is me lately!

This is outstanding. A masterpiece. I have to admit, I think this is definitely one of my favourites of yours. Your poetry is so delightful to read anyway, but this seriously is so original, creative and wonderful, I'm left in awe.

Take Care

If I had to judge this book by it's cover, I'd say it was going to be unique, simply by reading the title you've come up with. Lol, as wrong as it was for me to do that, I was not at all let down by it. I just loved reading this one, and I guess I should probably add this one to the pile, as I have yet to read a poem that's disappointed me by you. I loved the flowing nature of this poem, as well as all your others. A lot of thought went into this one, from what I can tell, due to its ability to so greatly convey what you were trying to say in order to sort of make the conclusion make sense. Then again, I'm not sure if i'm making sense now, lol. That was one heck of a conclusion too. I just loved it, that title and that conclusion and simply the flowing nature of it all. Outstanding stuff!
