questioned me
never my actions
allowed laughter
but never joy
ate me up from within
leaving nothing
not even my selfpity
to protect me

The white pain
reduced me
robbed me
of what was once mine
leaving me
with blank fingertips

I realize
that the road
I will take
will change
and the map
will not be found
this time

Lord,
let your love
shine through me
give me peace
lead me back
to myself again
let me hear the screams
from my hometown

I enjoyed this... finding the last two lines particularly striking. I have a feeling that many might say they understand but that none will know exactly. I will stop short of saying that I can relate to this and will say instead... 'white pain' seemed quite right here.

Well done... keep writing,
~SNM~
