I was born again and then I died
My hand from yours I took away
But all the while you begged me to stay

I lived by the commandments and followed your rules
I didn't consult with the liars, scoffers and fools
I gave my all and nothing less
Every sin I did confess

I grew up this way, It must be right
So I went along, without a fight
I had no time to think for myself
My questions and doubts were on the shelf

Then I grew up, I began to stray
My hope and faith started to fray
Things have changed, I knew they had
Christianity became some fad

My eyes were open, I left your side
This life of mine, I could not hide
It was hard, too much stress
The way I live, you would not bless

Your boundaries and codes are set too high
I would fail every time I'd try
I learned the hard way and lost it all
I had no one there to break my fall

Now I have found my own way to live
More to love and more to give
My mind is open with all to see
Everything's clear, I feel so free

Nothing is all black and white
There is gray in all our sight
Now I'm new, I'm truly born again
I finally realized I did not have to win

But then at times when I'm alone
I can't find that place I once called home
And then sometimes I am afraid
To think of things as if I'd stayed

But this is it, I cannot live a lie
For you sometimes I almost cry
I have to move on and find my place
Maybe then I'll find your grace [comments] => 4 [counter] => 178 [topic] => 61 [informant] => bluoreo [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 4 [ratings] => 1 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => selfstruggles )
