Sailor's wish

The sun is high in the sky,
shining right down on me
I wish to do everything on this nice summer day;
Oh, how I want to break free!

But that's just it,
How can it be?
I have to watch other sailors playing pirate at sea,
because I'm a poor sailor girl who's fullfilling my parent's dream.

Then again, who am I to say that I'm poor?
When I have every chance to find my ore
and go canoeing at camp with my family?
Oh, how I wish I could just break free!

To become a sailor is what they want for me;
but that's no life I want to live.
I'd rather be out soaking up nature;
For the animals, I'd have some food to give.

What shall I do when it comes down to the end?
Which dream should I fullfill?
To follow God's will and to like what I do;
is something I'll cherish indeed.
