Footsteps trailing behind
Wondering if I should fall
Or not go there at all.

Doors have slammed throughout my life
Despite my loyalty and strife.
Walking on eggshells I am beat
Not sure whether to advance or retreat.

Timing in the past has been my curse.
Just not knowing is the worst.
How can I find the strength to be real?
And confide in him exactly how I feel?

Wandering in circles now looking for the light.
Why should I play games when it feels so right?
A clear path I’ve found and it’s headed for the door.
The universe holds endless possibilities to explore.

Will he respond and step up to the plate?
Or could he be a coward afraid to take the bait?
I’ll be locked in this dungeon until he lets me go.
Whatever the outcome, at least I’ll finally know.

Great poem. I've felt this way so many times before. It's a difficult situation, but it really is better to know than to spend life wondering. :-)
