The colors of earth--greens, browns, grays, and blues invade my eyes, they become serene,
Then hazy as the ever so gallant forest tapestries pull back their curtains to reveal sky-high buildings stamped with flourescent filled windows.
A jumping squirrel finds refuge in the blue jay's nesting tree.
The bird chirps clearly and feely until suddenly the melodious tune becomes abrupt-
Honking cars. The simplicity gone. Speakers booming. Impatience thriving. Motors zooming.
The screeching, painful sounds attack my innocent ears so I plug them and glance toward the heavens.
Oh, the beautiful blue with puffy white scraps sewn masterly around.
I find the noise is gone, and once again,
My heart, my mind, my soul are at ease to think and feel and live.
But my eyes have only deceived me, and the snow-clean white morphs into a dismal gray.
Clouds of smoke puff from each glaring giant, and blue has lost its vivacious shade.
Where has life gone but further way from
Heart, mind, and soul?
When will we again see blue skies? [comments] => 6 [counter] => 250 [topic] => 32 [informant] => eatfresh22 [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 25 [ratings] => 5 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => SadPoetry )

Nature seems to be forgotten in this world. It's funn though, so many other people say that it's such a bad thing (Industrialized "life") yet nobody does anything about it. Maybe it's too late.
Well, take care.
I love you Carrie.

Ow! I don't like the ending!

But very, very true. You need to get out of old SoCal, friend. Sad when we have to suffer the ruinous hand mankind has upon God's work.

Well done.

Andrew

Again, reminds me of stuff I've written... maybe it's just the way I relate.
I really love the contrasting back and forth with that great scene-like imagery. Nice use of adjectives, actually.

Lots of love and peace be with you,

Chelsea

I really enjoyed reading this poem. You used great discriptions and it felt honest.

Where has life gone but further way from
Heart, mind, and soul?

I know what you mean. This culture is terrible, and what I mean, is that everyone is distracted, watching tv, going to work, everyone is constantly busy, and when we are distracted like this, we don't spend enough time meditating or just really being present with ourselves. You don't have to look anywhere to find your heart, mind, and soul, because it is always in the same place----right here, in the moment, at the core of yourself. I thought that this poem was just a reminder to come back to the heart of yourself. I like that.

Be True,
zenmind
