You cry but I do not know why
Terror gleams in my eyes
Like dew glistens in the morning
Grabbing my blanket pulling it to my chin
Clutching so hard knuckles turn white
Why do you cry, I wonder
He yelled and screamed and you screamed and cried.
Things breaking
Loud thundering crashes
Vicious names of hatred
Rebound off every wall
The next day you look tired
Circles dark, tar underneath your helpless eyes
“Oops”
I didn’t mean to spill the milk
White swirled mixture
Saturated blemished wood
Why do you scream at me?
Spouting out
Names so mean
“****”
Venomously scar my spirit
Tiny heart breaks silently
I still love you
Promises of future torment
Frantically wiping the tears
The salty mixtures sting my throat
I run, yelling back at you
Running, running, thinking
Why am I bad
My room
Dark un-wanting
Lightened by my innocence
Toys look fun
Brown bear stitched smile
Unraveled with a missing eye
Smiling, laughing
Make believe comfort
Loud crashing
Screaming, frantic crying
Again
I’m hiding
Why do you make him so mad?
Like me
I make you so mad
I am sorry mommy

I can almost see that tiny child. Good work.
