All the eye perceives is rusting, decaying waste,
a snapshot of a moment, a solitary point of view,
a skein of metalic bones,
threading desolate sunlight through.

Over a bridge, across the water as far as the eye can see,
scattered bruises litter this earth,
emotions buried by disease,
blurred thoughts,
discordant sounds,
chaotic visions never seem to leave,
but crumbling chimneys appear serene
on the brink of becoming obscene.

The stench of petrol, and death's cruel tongue pollute the nausceous air,
somewhere beyond the graffiti stained wall lies plessure or despair,
rows of tennet houses, distorts an unborn child's stare,
a cardboard box a home for a night
is just another excuse not to care.

But still I see around the edge of this infamous twofold city
love and life lingering on
gratitude turning to pity.
A last goodbye
dirt smeared windows,
a nod or a wave of the hand
crumbling chimneys stand so proud
in this cold-hearted mothballed land. [comments] => 1 [counter] => 180 [topic] => 43 [informant] => Urizen [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 0 [ratings] => 0 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => oops )

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
