Array ( [sid] => 79911 [catid] => 1 [aid] => mick [title] => Thirty Years Later [time] => 2005-01-14 19:02:06 [hometext] => Love and passion are not the strict domain of the young. Thirty years after The Great Romance ended, the passion is still there. [bodytext] => “Long hours make long days
And, worse,
Make longer nights.”
Your words, written so long ago,
Haunt me still
Always will.

You said you could forget to love me…
Did you?
That you would remember the days you did love me...
Do you?
You said I was
the culmination of the first
21 years of your life;
The second 21 years
would be spent trying to forget.
Have you?

You called me your wild sweet love
Said I should do what I had to do.
You told me to chase that devil dream of mine
And come back to see you when I could.
I did. Too late.
You said 4 years till she returns,
But I took five.
Chasing dreams that were easily fulfilled
But not quite fulfilling.

I don’t know the color of your eyes
Even though I spent hours gazing into them.
They truly are the window to the soul
And ours were joined to the very depths.
I don’t remember the mechanics of making love to you;
I remember gazing at you, looking into you, through you
As we touched, arched, and became one.

Will we meet again?
Will we know each other?
If you are walking on the pier
Will you see me there?
If I stop to stare at the water
Under the Michigan Ave. bridge,
Will I see your reflection there?
I still love the rain; it reminds me of you.
