How do you know when you love someone?
How can you tell - if you haven't before?
How do you know that you're having fun-
That what your doing isn't really a chore?

How do you know if a risk's worth taking?
How can you tell if you liked that first kiss?
How do you know when your heart is breaking?
When you move on, how do you know what to miss?

And how do you know what do to all the time?
I can't pretend that I have that skill
How do you know it'll all be fine?
I look but I can't see what's over that hill

How do you know I'll grow wiser with age?
How do you know I'm not already wise?
I read every word off of every page
I understand the reason you tell me lies

And how do I know that your truths are false?
What makes me think I'm smarter than you?
And why must I check my racing pulse
When I look on your face and admire the view

Am I too young to know my true heart?
And I'm not talking about puppy love
Nor am I mentioning Cupid's darts
Or how to determine push from shove

I'm speaking of an inner sense
Of love, and knowledge and mystery
All found behind my true heart's fence
But are those gates unlocked to me?

The maturity with which this is written shows that you are old enough to learn what real love means. Nice write.
