Are little horrors I like to keep at home,
Things that the rest of the world can’t see,
If they saw they wouldn’t like me.

They scratch & try to claw their way out,
One day they’ll get free I have no doubt,
But for now I am strong enough to hide them,
They hang around my throat like some bad phlegm.

They leave behind a nasty after taste,
I leave them to rot like human waste,
But the smell of my devils linger on,
I can hear the haunting sound of their song.

I dare not look in or take a peak,
I feel too frightened & I feel too weak,
If I could I would get rid of them & banish,
These awful demons that cause my anguish.

They never come out only at night,
That’s when I am too weary to fight,
I wish they would forever stay in my wardrobe,
But around my mind at night they roam.

well done I really like the way you structured this poem.
We all have these nasty demons we try to keep under lock and key so it is easy to relate to the feelings here as well

Krissie, I'll never be able to shake the eerie goosebumps I get when I read your poetry. I am looking for some inspiration because I've got a few things I just need to write about, get off my chest... and I came to you looking for that inspiration and found this poem that speaks exactly the words I wanted to pen...
Its as if we share the same brain sometimes...

Thank you for posting this. It's truly a great poem and its poignancy to me makes it all the better.

Lots of love and peace be with you,

Chelsea
