We were in for an unpleasant surprise
All of a sudden things seemed forlorn
Dark clouds began to form

Loud voices in anger raised to one another
A door slams and she races for cover
Four little girls come crying
Hard to tell if someone was dying

One grand-daughter separated from the others
Her mother wanted to leave with just one another
Brothers caught in the conflict together
Their wives would not reconcile what so ever.

Atmosphere was tense indeed
To the voice of reason there was no heed
Parties responsible would not involve
So there was nothing we could resolve

The mood became tense and sad
I know what a bad feeling I had
Children got involved in play and forgetting
Except for the mother and daughter who left quitting

So what happens next is the question
I'm sure there will be suggestions
I just know that pride and ego must go
So the family can again thrive and grow

It continues to be an awkward situation
Any togetherness is met with trepidation
It is a struggle whenever we are all together
Hope we can learn to get along better

Well, the poem was great..what do you want suggestions on. I've lived together with 3 families..so I know what family fights are..what tension is..my sis and her family..my husbands mom, his brother , wife and their 2 kids..my daughter-in-law and 2 grand-kids. At time none of us could see eye to eye.. we learned to stay away from each other as best we could.. My daughter-in-law would leave and just take one of my grand kids..abandon the other one..doesn't sound like I could give suggestions, huh? LOL

I've always asked one thing on holidays and that's my children but this year it hasn't been that way.
Very good write and it's gotta be painfull to experience something like this.
