There is no where left to go, but out
Out into the darkness unknown
The coldness of Space is nothing,
Compared to the coldness of mankind
I am tired of life on Earth
There is nothing to hold me here
There may be nothing to find
Nothing but emptiness
The emptiness that I am all too familiar
But atleast I can get away from all of you
Perhaps I will find comfort
In the company of higher intelligent life
To become more than human
To become better than man
Now I am off, to make my destiny
Now I am off, to expand my mind
Now I am off, to learn what cannot be learned
Now I am off, to see what cannot be seen
I will leave you all behind
You have nothing that I need
You are incapable of change,
you refuse the truth
Now I will leave you all without remorse
Now I will leave and never look back
I will live in seclusion
In a world of my own making
Surrounded by pure thought
Living in the light
Discovering all there is to be discovered
Becoming more than the sum of all that exists
My dreams are to evolve, to constantly improve
Unlike you, I want to be better
You are content staying where you are
And when you have all killed each other
I will still be out here
In peace, I will continue to live
Even after you are all gone

It was like writing prose in sharp stanzas, befitting and jarring all at the same time. That's really impressive use of word choice and conversational rhythm...Free verse, right?
Though, I always thought free verse was simpler and minimalist, but this is really effective too... |
