Maybe today I'll laugh a little harder
Maybe today I'll forget who I am a little bit longer
Maybe tonight will be a little warmer
Maybe tonight I'll sleep a little sounder
Maybe tonight you'll forget to make me a little less stronger

And I won't hide it anymore
I will not walk away tonight
I won't take away what's yours
Or ask you why you think in black and white
As long as you keep those hurtful words to yourself

And you won't scorn me anymore
You will not laugh at me today
You won't show me to the door
Or tell me I'm standing in your way
As long as I keep these caustic thoughts to myself

Maybe yesterday was as good as it gets
Maybe yesterday you showed me something real
Maybe yesterday I could've gotten somewhere better than here
Maybe tomorrow will bring me what I need
Maybe tomorrow you'll make me smile again
Maybe tomorrow I'll fall to pieces, slip away and disappear

And I won't fight back anymore
I will not cry for you today
I won't ask for so much more
Or bleed all my pain and fear away
As long as you keep those savage hands to yourself

And you won't hurt me anymore
You will not raise your voice tonight
You won't throw me to the floor
Or tell me why I'm wrong and you're right

Tis a very said write, my heart goes out to you, having to put up with that sort of abuse, every night.
One should be loved, Not tormented, like that.
One should be held, Not used like you are.
May you find the blessing you seek.

Take care

Moonlit this was so sad it just broke my heart to read it. You have done a remarkable undertaking by putting your soul or your depth whichever it is in a poetic form.

I hope this is not a true life scenario. Abuse comes in many forms and if a relationship makes you feel negative about yourself, hurts you emotionally or physically it is not love and nor is it the place to be.

When someone loves you in a positive, good way you will feel like clicking your heels together in mid-air while walking. It makes you feel good.

Hurt, pain, sadness and so many other emotions came thru this poem and it brought tears to my eyes.

I don't know what else to say other than I felt this one very deeply.

I can only hope this does not signify your life. This is not a life. It is a prison of self destruction and masochism. I wish for your tomorrows to be bright, happy, loving and peaceful, as life is meant to be. Never let anyone treat you with this type of "love" for it is only a sickness, not love. Push forward and don't ever stop until you reach the right place and person.

Oh Dee...i really dunno what to say.
Except that i hope this is fiction.
And if it's not, then i hope things get better soon.
This is a good write, but it almost ripped my heart out.
Many many hugs,
Phil xxx

Oh Moonlit, I feel so sad after reading this.. Like the others I hope it is fictional... if it isn't then you need to get out of this relationship....
No one deserves to be treated like this...
Hugs

Dee.....I wish you could escape this endless cycle of pain you experiance everyday of your life..you truely deserve so much more than what your getting from life....and honestly sometimes I do wish that I could be the lucky one that could give it to you, your such a sweetheart deep down inside of your soul, behind the never ending flow of smart remarks, there's a beautiful and glowing soul within you, that truely makes you live up to your name....Moonlit Angel....

*wipes away the last tonight-induced tear irritably*

I've been trying to comment on this all night . . . I think you can probably guess at least a few of the reasons I've had so much trouble doing so.

Dee, you already know what I think, about every aspect of this from its impressiveness as a poem to the topic you bring up in it, and I can't say it was too much fun talking about the above the first go-round, so I won't say all that again.

I'll just say that 1) I just want you to be happy, but 2) I *do* trust you, much as I dislike doing so here, and 3) excuse the sappiness, but I love you to pieces and you know quite well how hard it is for me to accept your choice(s), but corny as it sounds I really do just want the best for you, and 4) this was beautifully written, hon, and 5) I'll always be here if you need me. Always.

much love,
Nora

wow I liked this a lot and could relate to it a
bit especially the first stanza. Very sad, but I
loved the hope in the end of the poem its as if
you know your pain will not last forever and
that is something that many people do not
have... treasure that gift.

I don't think there is anything quite so sad as the destruction of the human spirit. You have described it so well. I have been where you are and know there is a path out. I pray you will find it as well.

Dammit. Can't think how many times I've read this poem . . . I wish I could stop, I wish I could.

It's too painfully beautiful for me to be allowed to read and it makes me think too much and most of all it makes me feel too much. Way, way, way too much.

love always,
Nora
