Array ( [sid] => 62077 [catid] => 1 [aid] => mick [title] => Glory [time] => 2004-08-31 17:11:23 [hometext] => i love this one the most of all my War Poetry, i would greatly appreciate it if people please commented! Thanks! [bodytext] => Oh, the glory of it all!
Kipping on a train into the heart of battle, all the while singing beloved songs
Only with one swoosh of machine gun fire, and helplessy fall
Surrounded by the dead and dying

How can they go, while leaving loved one's behind
Not knowing if they'll ever come back!
Oh..dear young soliders of past and present
So boldly brave, putting forth life and limb to attack

Charging forth into the unknown
So fleet of foot, and strong of heart!
Among the divits, shell fire and sharpnel, the dying, cry and moan..
When mile's away weeping mother's cry of their loss

Lay gaze apon the dead
The thousand's of cross's, row on row
Oh how they gave their live's for what we have today!
Into their skin, they take each heavy deathblow

How can there be the glory in all this pain!
All the death and despair nailed into our soliders souls forevermore
With shell fire and explosion's all around, how can one keep sane!
Friends and comrads dying by your side, day in day out

I can't see the glory in death and destruction
Only a fool or fanatic would join up so rash!
Off into No-Man's-Land to fight the villan
When once happy and gay, on the way to the Front, singing "Tipperary" with old friends

Oh so many innocent lives lost on the morrows of war!
See the fields, where wild poppy grow with the long dead
And the larks sweep bye where trench's lay
Glory, it be said when such a young man dies apon his sickbed

And with that glory, give back to all the lost
They gave us what we all are today!
Because they died for our cost
Give the glory back to the soldier's, dead or alive.. [comments] => 1 [counter] => 212 [topic] => 57 [informant] => TwEeK [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 0 [ratings] => 0 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => war )

amazing. i havent read any of your others, but i think this one is very well written and has emotion put in it. this piece is not like others that takes basically one side of the issue and goes with it. like reasons why not to be at war or to be in war. i think you presented this very nicely, because you didnt seem to take a harsh stand on either side.
