Array ( [sid] => 61587 [catid] => 1 [aid] => mick [title] => Saving Grace [time] => 2004-08-27 14:53:10 [hometext] => I need advice !!! I don't care about the poem, it is the true content from last night that I know not how to handle !! Thanks. [bodytext] => She is not my flesh and blood, Lord
But perhaps she should have been
You know it would have spared her
All the pain done her by him
When she showed at the door last night
Trying so hard to be strong
Hidden deep within her eyes
Evidence of something wrong
Though I knew not to what extent
I offered up a hug
Tears adorned my shoulder
In my shirt her nails were dug
Secrets in my family
Are few and far between
It wasn’t too long after that
It was revealed to me
Her father’s not the kind of man
That I have strived to be
God, you know I’m far from perfect
And that isn’t hard to see
But how could you permit this
And still expect her to believe
That you’re with her every moment
And with her you do grieve
So many of your works I know
I’ll never understand
But how could you deliver her
Into such uncaring hands
She is so much like family
I’m so glad that you brought her
To touch us all with kindness
As the best friend of my daughter
She isn’t even eighteen yet
We thought that it was right
To contact the authorities
And file reports last night
How were we to know that things
Would get so escalated
Her mother’s accusations
As the tension elevated
And how Dear God could we predict
As police dealt with his wife
That he would use a shotgun
To so quickly end his life
There’s no way I can comprehend
What she feels today
I only hope it doesn’t break her
And for her strength I pray
Lord, guide and help us all
So we’ll know just what to do
To emphasize with clarity
We’re there to help her through
Please grant peace and closure
To her given family too
May forgiveness flood their hearts
As can only come from you
Known to others she has been
Called by her given name
When her head struck the ceiling fan
To us, Grace, she became
I know Dear God it’s been some time
Since you have heard from me
And far too long since I’ve approached you
From my bended knees
But Father please, as you gaze down
Upon me in this place
Fill me with your spirit and use me
In saving Grace

Nazmythian, I'm so sorry to hear about your crisis situation. As uncertain as you feel about what to do, it sounds like you're doing everything you can. Just to be there for her, and to support her. It's important to not take on the guilt of her father's suicide, as that was his choice. Often we feel like we don't know what to do because we want to do more then we can. This is also a time to avoid using hind sight against yourself. Reaching out with prayer and faith is important. If you need to talk further through the private message i'm available.

God Bless
Willofree, retired MH therapist

OMG!
Give her all the support and love you can, I'm sure you are. Right now being there for her is the simplest and the best. May God bless her with her new name.

I am very sorry for the pain you have all been through. The main thing is to get her counseling quickly. She must not feel that this is her fault. From what you stated there was not other recourse but to call the authorities. You did the correct thing. God bless you for getting involved as so many would not have. Place your faith in your God and just trust he will bring you all through this. Just be there for her because she trusts you and feels safe there. Bless you all.

Naz, such sorrow and pain has befallen upon you, in which you don't seserve any of it... I am truly sorry for what has happened to your daughters best friend... The best thing to do is turn to to God, for He has all the answers, and pray for guidance and peace to inhabit her life. You did the right thing, Naz... And I truly believe that she thinks you are her guardian angel. We all have one. May God bless you and her, for He is gracious and loving to all... Pain comes with happiness in the end, you just need to let it come to you, and not dwell in the stomach of Anguish forever... Console her, be her solace... I give you and Grace my blessings and all my love! She is very lucky to ahve a person like you to help her when in need. Excellent poem, by the way... Heart-wrenching till the end. All my love, as always.

Your dearest friend and fan,

Fleur (Stephy) God Bless.

My heartfelt gratitude to all. Thank you oh so much. I will relay to my family, and to Grace that many more people have her in their thoughts. The general concensus does seem to be to recommend counciling for her as well as all members of her family ... adn to focus her on the positive aspects ( if there can be any ) He did what he did of his own free will, she was not either at fault or to blame, and he has prevented and made sure he can never hurt her again. Once more, many thanks everyone ... and a peacefull weekend to all.

Nazmythian ~

Surely you may be one of the answers to your own prayer. God places people into our lives and us into theirs for reasons. She is blessed to have you in hers.
Awesome write.

You are doing right, being there for this young lady. Professional help will also be needed. I thought I would never seek psychiatric help, but the suicide of my son showed me that some things cannot be handled alone. Guilt is a hard thing to overcome in a situation like this. My prayers are with you and the young lady. This will mark her life forever but with the proper help maybe it will not destroy her spirit. God bless you.

That's a heart-rending poem. You ask a question in it. I think you already know the answer, but I'll offer this anyway. Pain and misery come because of sin; yet God has decreed that our tribulation ( because of sin) shall work patience in us, and if Christ should suffer in this world: (the Master), should not the servent suffer too? All things (not just the good things) work together for good for them that love God, etc. Don't take my word on this, get a Bible concordance and see for yourself. I appreciate the compassion you show, and it's a very good poem. God bless
Lionel

I cannot add anything to all the comments. It was good you were able to think it through and write this poem.It has been sometime since this terrible happening, but my prayers are for all of you involved.Darkness still covers pockets on this earth and he is already defeated and doesn't know it.The warmness of the Son will shine upon us.
How can I say thanks for sharing your pain.
