Array ( [sid] => 61210 [catid] => 1 [aid] => mick [title] => the weight of one song [time] => 2004-08-24 06:13:22 [hometext] => My cat finally came home tonight as I wrote this! Pool and an ex-boyfriend who grew some incredible sideburns and a beard, then sang me a song that broke us both wide open. [bodytext] => There was the tinest crack
that came from beneath my foot
a small green tree frog
had lept beneath it
just as my attention turned.
I felt each tiny bone snap
the popping of organs
green turned red and black
the poor frog a sorry lesson learned
beneath my oafish foot.

And tonight
the sky is black and red
clouds alight with the glare
from towns built ruddy
with all the brittle rotton bones
of all the broken tree frogs
careless dead expanse of night
green turned black and red
beneath my oafish foot.

There tonight ran
between the billiards of your legs
a small market manager
with small teeth and angry eyes
he askes to tear the town down
he asks to take the land for a farm
he wants an orchard full of sweet peaches
he wants a vineyard full bitter wine grapes
I just looked at you and laughed
and you gave your hand back to a song.
green back to black and red
beneath deep owlish feet.

The tree frog shot
safety from numbers and numb
from the outside in, gave no warning
having kissed all the cats
and wearing sweet Spanish flowers
made a garland around the high altar
I came with nothing in my pocket
but there were trees in the fields
and there were songs on the tables
and an old man stays behind the wheel. [comments] => 4 [counter] => 166 [topic] => 43 [informant] => MsScissors [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 4 [ratings] => 1 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => oops )

i like this, very nice imagery. I also liked the blurb at the start, your cat came home.

AMbiguous and inventive. I'm not sure exactly how the weight of a song equates to some tables - market stall tables?

Am confused - but I see that's nothing new with your commentators, so I continue on . . .

Keep writing.
