Array ( [sid] => 60590 [catid] => 1 [aid] => mick [title] => Struggle to Surrender [time] => 2004-08-18 15:07:56 [hometext] => Based on my continual groppling with Luke 9:23...If anyone should come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me. 6-18-04 [bodytext] => You've done everything for me.
You lived, You suffered
You died, You forgave,
And my selfish heart cannot surrender.

It's my one desire
To be completely yours.
I want to want You
For always and for ever.

My heart wants to relent,
To be placed in your hands.
Give me Your strength
To give You my life.

An impossible task for
My sinful flesh
But I now humble myself
To surrender all.

Here is my life, Lord,
Please take my heart.
Not for You to help me
But for me to simply become
An element of You. [comments] => 5 [counter] => 159 [topic] => 61 [informant] => eatfresh22 [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 25 [ratings] => 5 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => selfstruggles )

A tremendously beautiful prayer of supplication. Truly inspirational.

I agree, this is absolutely beautiful. As a rule, I'm not much for religious poetry, especially (no offense intended) poetry relating to the Christian God, but for reasons I can only partially understand I loved this poem so much . . . I think this is the purest, most well-written, most beautiful, best summary and depiction of --Christianity? Your relationship with he in whom you believe? I'm sorry, don't know what to call it that might not offend-- that I've ever seen. Nicely done, very nice indeed.

Beautiful piece, my friend. Well I know this feeling. And your last stanza is pretty profound. Excellent work!
Cheers

A very inspiring prayer. I too walk that path. Take my hand, we'll walk it together. Hold me up, I'll hold you.
Take care.
I love you.

Excellent job, glory be given to God :-) This poem beautifully witnesses to the Christian's personal relationship with God and the strugggle of man wanting to do His will yet doing our own.
