What happened to morality?
A question that's been on my mind
Since others' sufferings became our entertainment
Since pornographic inuendo became good advertisement
Since promiscuity became glamorized and desirable
What happened to morality?
Have our views changed so much
That divorce is justified as normal and convenient
That true love is seen as a fairy tale,
and therefore we settle for less
That we can support what we say to be true with lies,
so long as it is believed
What happened to morality?
How selfish we have become
To allow greed to dictate our actions
To allow corruption to fulfill ambition
To allow ourselves to trample
those we shut our eyes and ears to
What happened to morality?
Have we really sunk so low as a society
As to raise our daughters with no sense of self-value
As to raise our sons with no sense of integrity
As to teach our children that they are animals
and watch them live their lives like such
What happened to morality?
Have we completely lost our grasp of it
Now that murder of unborn life is legalized and justified
Now that perversion of sexual desire is accepted,
and a marriage of such is honored
Now that we force more liberal actions and beliefs
to be embraced by the world
What happened to morality?
Why are those who uphold it mocked
And those who protect it put to shame?
If it is all based on the individual"s opinion
What, then, is truth?
What happened to morality?
A question that's been on my mind
Since I saw our leaders utter the name of God,
those who took Him out of our schools
Since I heard us all pledge ourselves to a nation under God,
while living in a nation that rejects Him
O America, America,
land that I love--
What did you think would happen?

AMEN !!!! I fear to think, from my parents generation to mine ... if society has crossed such boundries to come this far ... will I even recognize the world my daughter raises her children in ?
