Somewhere else you shall be in a sudden moment. Filled with hasten purpose, speeding out of the gate. Divided by a thin glass sheet, with doll in hand, the little one waved. Far away you were.

Ritualistic dance grabs you. Within the square you laboured. Confined by own choice. Pinned to the barrier, there was a prized possession of a sheet of love. The little one’s giggle flutters from it, but no longer heard by you. Indeed, a possession only.

Happiness consumed by numbers on a booklet. Decimals are going the wrong way. Smiles can no longer be afforded by you. The little one smiled. Bike ride with dad is a prized possession. Hurry up you said. Eyes locked to words in sports section as the little one slips ahead and away, giggling.

The speeding car could not stop. Rain falls to blanket the hurt child. A ray of sun melts the ice on you. Too late since we are all on borrowed time. Closing your eyes to picture the last you have seen or care. The doll is clenched by her. Daddy bought me this. The timepiece tells of lost time from then on. We are all on borrowed time. Love. Don’t forget.
