"I SHALL NEVER FORGET!"

I remember it as yesterday, how long?
I gave birth to him, how can I be that wrong?
Not long ago, small boy watching trains, wondering?
On that day, he was 11, my mind is ageing.

His father tried to kill us together.
Just he and I, side by side, we must hide, life saver.
He's now 17, and we are starving side by side.
Supplies exhausted, snow's too deep, can't
make it to the roadside!

Melting snow, can't melt it fast enough.
Now we are dehydrating, another of life's mischief!
Younger than me by 43 years, he rebounds.
Removes the solid board cover over our spare tire.
I heard shoveling sounds?

I'm too weak to drop a tear, I'm sure I hear.....
Shoveling close by, must be very near.
A desperate young man, weak, yet sincere!
"I'm going to get us out Mom, out of here!"

My spirits are low, my heart is weak.....
I say a silent prayer, "If this is a vision, it's so bleak!"
In my diary I've written this day, "No food 14 days!"
Determined spirit, he shovels slowly, courage displays!

I shall never forget, that picture in my mind.
An aching heart, no teardrops could I find.
I shall never forget how hard he tried.
One shovel at a time........wanting to live, death defied.

Complete exhaustion, we fell asleep, no longer hungry.
After three days your hunger pangs disappear grimly.
An early dawn, another snow, his path filled in!
Resigned now, my journal entry, "We tried, where do we begin?"

Montie was spotted by a Forest Ranger.......from the highway.
I shall never forget, Montie's love inspite of complete dismay.
In less than one hour, we 8 souls were pulled from our snowy grave.
Forest Ranger had 4x4 huge truck, chains, came to save!

If my son hadn't have been brave, my journal, someone else would have read.
"These poor people with their little puppies simply starved, and were found dead!"
A moment in my life, so precious, filled with memoirs of human compassion.....
Adoration, gallantry, enthusiastic devotion, and love with tender passion!

"I SHALL NEVER FORGET FOREVER!"

It is so hard to believe that no friends or family were there to help you through that time of need. How sad Connie that you and Montie had to endure that. It made you stronger I am sure but heavens that is a lot to endure, especially for a child. I know God blessed you both.

All my love,
Rita

This was a wrenching post. I was completely taken in by this line:

A desperate young man, weak, yet sincere!

How true - and touching depiction.

I am chilled...astonished...you have been to the brink and back and you still have such faith. Praise God for you! Praise God that you share your testimony. I am in awe of you.
Your words strengthen me so!
Stitch
