Sixteen-penny nails are being Driven deep inside my soul And I fear it won't be long Until I lose all my control Emotions that are burning, churning Turning from within me now All voices of insanity Demanding turns to take a bow Like the Phoenix dies then rises From its ashes flies reborn Each new voice cries out for reason Searching for direction - torn Each one shouting, screaming louder Than the one that came before Empty promises of freedom Leave me trembling on the floor How long must I suffer blindly Will this madness never end? When the orchestra of life's disbanded Will death be my silent friend?

Wonderful description of that inner struggle. Vivid and chilling in every aspect. (hope the voice of reason wins out in the end)
When the orchestra of life's disbanded
Will death be my silent friend?
Brilliant line...

I agree with WinterFawn... I think I would have put this under the self struggle category. I think everyone has voices shouting within them sometimes... but... it seems to me that poets hear them more clearly and that can be overwhelming at times.
Clear and creative at the same time (not an easy combination to achieve)... and... yes, very relatable.
Knowing those voices exist for a reason,

Sweet Naz... The voices haunt my waking moments also. You are not alone in this thing called Insanity... Beautiful flow, and words that stroke my chords to no end... I feel your desperation, your pain, your longing for it to all end in one quick movement... I know this feeling very well, my friend! Disturbing, almost passionate. Your words always leave me in a state of utter reverie, and it seems I can't get out of it... Many thanks, dearest poet, for this beguiling and chilling write! Our insanity is what makes us different, and the great poets that we are now... Embrace it. The voices will die down soon. As always, all my love and blessings to you, sweet friend!
Forever your ami and fan,
Lady FleurdeSang |
