[bodytext] => Rock stars to perform concerts in Key battleground states WASHINGTON — A cavalcade of rock stars, led by superstar Bruce Springsteen, will perform concerts in key battleground states in October in an unprecedented effort to remove President Bush from office, organizers announced Wednesday. While entertainers have long been a staple of presidential politics, especially for fund-raising, the 'Vote for Change' concert tour marks the first time such activities have been pinpointed to states that could swing either Democrat or Republican in the November contest between Bush and Democratic nominee John Kerry. And it marks the first time Springsteen, whose music is well known for themes of working class populism, has agreed to participate in partisan politics, having spent most of his career studiously avoiding siding with either political party. Springsteen, the primary force in organizing the anti-Bush concerts, explained his decision in a statement posted on his Web site. 'I feel like I couldn't have written the music I've written, and been on stage singing about the things that I've sung about for the last twenty five years and not take part in this particular election,' he said in the statement.
