His destiny already told.
A boy in a grown man's world,
He had to put his dreams on hold.

A few lost moments of lust,
Protection, he thought, wasn't a must.
She came to him, tears in her eyes.
"How did you get pregnant?" he cussed.

Most men would have turned and run.
The boy's back bowed, it weighed a ton.
He said, "For my childs sake,
I will stay, till my job is done.

The second came and then the last.
His love for her never grew, as time passed.
An eternity, he just wanted it over fast.

Twenty-three years of feeling lost.
Umpteen years gone, spent and tossed.
They reared three beautiful children,
Had a good life, but at what cost?

There are some that doubt his heart.
They say, "Don't leave her, don't part."
The boy, now a man, did his time.
What is his reward? A fresh start?

He yearns for those teenage years.
The fun, the freedom, the fears.
He put these feelings in rhyme,
So no one can see his tears.
