[hometext] => I wrote this a while ago...it's a poem to parents particularly my mum about a time when I was planning to go to Oz to be with a guy.
[bodytext] => You say the sun will burn skin crisped But I tell you that I may grow taller than I am or smarter or wiser In the heat of new days that are ahead. But for the advice I know a warmth you cannot tell me of yet. I want to tell you That in all my years I've never loved the way, this way or ever felt it so When I'm lost, you find me when I'm down, you lift me when I'm happy, you are my reason And I'm more in love with you everyday of the life you gave me. But our paths need to divert now, somehow, and break us if it must because my wings are stronger than given credit for And I yearn to test them in bluer skies than I've known So with all the sadness of parting, amidst the loss I have to say I want to know the sun, fly too close and burn To learn and love In the heat of new days yet to come.
