I was only 11 and had no idea why/
I walked in the room all were in pain
My uncle cried tears like the rain.
I sat next to Grandma wandering why
For this the first time I saw a grown man cry.
My eyes search the room in fear.
I looked and looked then shed a tear...
I loved everyone who was there,
I had only one question.
Why wasn't my daddy there?
I looked at my mom tears falling from her eyes...
Wandering how to tell a child when daddy dies...
The tears that fell that day
Many moons ago in May.
Were tears of sorrow pain and grief?
As this child cried in disbelief.
Sad but true the case may be.
My daddy's stupidity took him from me.
He made the choice to drink and drive.
Had he been smarter he'd still be alive.

Aww.... This is so horrible.... (the circumstance, not the poem, the poem is beautiful)... I'm so sorry, I've never lost a parent, but I've lost loved ones, and it sucks...

Jaime

A lot of tears are shed for just this reason brokenwing. I lost a nephew for the same reason. I see your pain but you've wrote it in a honest way through the eyes of a child who has never forgot. Hugs June

Now the tears are flowing and wont stop.
I was just reading your other poem about your friend that had died and the tears have carried on rolling
How hard it must have been to write this for you.
My heart goes out to you and your family.

A deep prodigious poem

You have a wonderful talent for writing

Take care

Love Sweetangelukxxxx
