Array ( [sid] => 51413 [catid] => 1 [aid] => mick [title] => Been told no [time] => 2004-06-11 05:53:54 [hometext] => I'm joining the U.S.A.F. my friends tell me no [bodytext] => I made a decision
I'm gonna join the force
I can serve my country
See the world
And get free education

In my mind i feel it is the right thing
My friends say no
I need to go to school and get a "real" job
But i ask a question
How is it what i am doing is not a real job
If it were not for people like me
Where would this great country be
No one knows for sure
But we may guess
We could be like USSR
Or maybe Iraq
Which if we were like Iraq i would have to kill my self
Or maybe like Cuba
But alass we are not
We are a land of the free

Granted i'm joining for me
Not my friends
But it would be nice to have some support
I guess i have no true friends
Again if it weren't for me they would be able to choose their job

I will strap on my boots
Ware my camo
Report for duty at 05:00
I will take the oath
I will pretect the ones who told me no

They will be thanking me when i'm fighting for there freedom
They expect me to write
But why?
So they can tell me more of how dumb i was

But how can what i'm doing be dumb
Just because from time to time i'm putting my life on the line
So my family can be happy
So my kids can grow up happy
And free to learn as they wish
Not be force fed How great the dictator is
Oh yeah i'm pretecting our voting rights to
And all core democratic values

So i ask you people
I ask if what i'm doing is really so wrong?
If what i am doing in some way is a sin please tell me
If what i'm doing is smething dumb please tell me
If what i'm doing is not a good choice for my life please tell me
So i can know just who it is i'm defending.

Is it a bunch of traders
Or is it the true americans.
That support the troops
What happend to patriotism
Please tell me

It used to be when someone joined
People were so happy for them
But now my own family is telling me no
You know what **** em
I will join to defend my own freedom's

If you are old enough and have thought it out, do it. I served in the Army and have not regreted a thing.

Well I for one am exceptional greatfull to u 'cause if it weren't for people with hearts like yours willing to die if neccessary. I humbly respect u all.
Sounds to me like your friiends are the one's with problems. I didn't like my son joining the Army but I stood behind him 100%.
Like Jenni said, it's your decision.
I respect u for being so brave.
luv, huggs, thanks,
eemy
