I remember your eyes.
God, you have dark eyes
They caught me unaware
What were you thinking of then?

I think I might have blushed
But I’m sure you didn’t see
How my breath caught
When I saw you look at me

I walked away that night
After trying to pretend
That you hadn’t raised my interest
And thus the story would end

But all those months later
To see you again was a surprise.
It hit me all over again
The unwritten message in your eyes

Watching you covertly
When I thought you couldn’t see
But the thing is the whole time
You were looking back at me

Too astonishing to believe
I’d finally found someone
Who could make the promise
That they might just be the one.

Eyes.........they can be so many different things.
Sometimes mystery, sometimes vulnerability, but always fascinating.
Nice work

beautiful poem, and they say that peoples eyes are a window to their soul, just might be in your case. Eyes are very mesmerizing and I have lost myself in them before, but ended in heartbreak sadly.

that was beautiful

my favorite stanza was

Watching you covertly
When I thought you couldn’t see
But the thing is the whole time
You were looking back at me

It made me think of all those other people who have caught my interest.

It was truely a beautiful write.
